I had the opportunity to take several classes taught by Ania Dabrowska AKA Finnabair at Little Bird Creations in Manhattan this week. What a treat!
These are the covers I made in the journal class.
Can you say 3D?!?! Love all the grungy texture.
Here is one of the 2-page spreads from the inside. Those colors come from a powder pigment called Primary Elements by Luminarte. We mixed them with water which is just one of the many ways you can apply them. I can't tell you how much I love them… in fact I think everyone in class felt the same way. Needless to say several of the pigment jars had to come home with me. Rude not to!
Here we are after the large layout class. Finn is a fabulous teacher — generous in sharing her tips and techniques and great at keeping the class moving. You can find out about upcoming classes for both Finn and Little Bird Studios (a wonderful studio space run by Michele Luxenberg) by clicking the links to their sites that I included up top.
It was also great spending time with people I'd first met online… there were quite a few people I ‘know' from Facebook and Yahoo and Meet-up groups, and a few I've taken classes with in person before. The internet makes the world a lot smaller!
And the winner from my StencilGirl giveaway (see this post) of MaryBeth Shaw's book, Flavor for Mixed Media is:
