Paint and stencils are my go-to supplies for art journaling, along with stamps. Today I pulled out some older supplies from my stash and included them in a 2-page spread. I used Dylusions and Jet Black Archival Ink.
I applied many layers of paint and stenciling and left a little bit of white showing in places. This is one of those pages that developed over a long time rather than in one sitting. I pulled an old transparency from my stash (7 Gypsies brand) and the little ‘trust' ticket is one Tim Holtz created, many moons ago.
I have a ton of sentiment stamps, and I enjoyed using several of them on this spread. My favorite is the “Don't believe everything you think” stamp. This is one of my larger journals, and each page measures 9X12 so it's a pretty large spread.
The transparency was a little tricky. At first I stamped on top of it, but it smudged. I was able to quickly wipe the ink off with a baby wipe. I ended up stamping direcly onto the painted page, and putting the transparency on top. It's attached with a stapler.
Mixed Media Art Membership Group
I host the Mixed Media Art Membership Group, a monthly membership that includes facilitated learning through a Project of the Month (with closed-captioned video instruction), Themed Challenge of the Month, a live Zoom Create-Along Session where we all work on our art together, and lots of resources such as the Project Vault, Technique Vault and Resource Library. Best of all is the supportive and inspiring community we enjoy in our private Facebook Group and the gated private forum on the site where I host the videos and resources.
The group is only open for new members a few times a year, so please add your name to the waiting list to be the first to know when the doors open again. Click here to add your name to the waiting list.
