Twelve Tags – Day One

2011TimsTag#1For stampers the holiday season came into full swing today when Tim Holtz started his fifth annual Twelve Tags of Christmas.

He puts a ton of time into twelve days' worth of ideas, projects, inspiration, and giveaways.  It's fun every year and also leads to using your ‘stuff' more, as he reminds us of the cool things we can do with various products and techniques.

This year I'm fully embracing the ‘make it your own' attitude Tim encourages in all of his posts. His tag today included lots of silver glitter.  Not my thing.  In years past I would've done it anyway, but now I'm okay with making substitutions and have something more suited to my taste.  It's funny, I tried going with grey embossing powder instead of the sparkly silver, but it was still shiny and just not my cup of tea. Once I decided to just wing it, it all came together quickly.

I cut the tag from blue Coredinations paper on my Vagabond, then followed Tim's embossing technique (which I love, and which was new to me) using his snowflake embossing folder and Versamark.  I went with chipboard alpha stickers (K & Co) and added my own bling as a combo of Tim's banner die, his leaf dies, an EK punch, and a 7 Gypsies stamp.  I sprayed the seam binding with H2O and Iced Spruce distress ink, then hung a few gingle bells from the ribbon using jump rings.

See you tomorrow for another one!
