Surprise Steampunk Sunglasses

When was the last time you received Surprise Steampunk Sunglasses in the mail?  I’m going to go out on a limb and say “Never!”  However, I can tell you in all honestly that I received a pair just last week.

Surprise Steampunk Sunglasses created by Candy Colwell

My talented and sweet friend, Candy Colwell, salvaged my broken sunglasses after a day in the city together last summer. We spent a fun day in NYC, hitting the flea markets and Central Park. My sunglasses were old and when they broke I threw them away. Little did I know, Candy did a little dumpster diving and retrieved them. She had STEAMPUNK on her mind.

What’s wrong with my vision?!?!?

Here’s a pic Candy took of me when they broke… I had put them on and thought I was stroking out a bit before I realized a lens was missing.  We were cracking up but she had me keep a straight face for the photo.  Now I know why… she was already plotting for a future blog post!

Imagination is the key to Creativity

Perhaps our visit to John Lennon’s memorial sparked Candy’s idea. She’s so creative! I love altering things, but it didn’t even occur to me to save those broken shades.

Want to see how she did it? Candy shares a step-by-step tutorial of this transformation over on the DecoArt blog. Her attention to detail is amazing!
