Sunday Stampers Challenge: All You Need is Love

Hels Sheridan has a fun Sunday Stampers challenge up this week as she celebrates her 1,000th post and the 150th week of Sunday Stamper challenges.  Check her out!  The challenge is to use our favorite products, techniques or designers and throw in some love.  Hels’ encouragement was instrumental in me starting a blog after a series of emails based on my adoring her incredible work  (you really should get yourself a blog, she said) led me to actually start a blog.  Seriously.  Who knew?  It’s amazing how much fun it is when you leap in feet first.  So thanks very much, Hels, and Happy Anniversary!

For this challenge, I decided to continue on yesterday’s theme and play with Tim’s texture trades a bit more. I used an Ali Edwards Technique Tuesday stamp alongside the dry-embossed umbrella man.  I have to say, I’m going to be looking for more embossing folders with negative space. Between what I made yesterday and this one, I am pumped!

It’s really interesting to just try different things and with Tim’s ATC die you can cut repeatedly and not even feel like you’re wasting a thing. I cut a bunch today and won’t hesitate to play whereas when I was using store-bought ATC’s I’d ration myself.

It would’ve been really smart to put a post-it on the back reminding me how I did each one because the order does seem to matter, but basically the one on the left was an ATC I first inked with distress inks, then stamped with black archival, then put through the Vagabond using the fade and lastly inked direct to paper over the man with faded denim. The one on the right was first stamped in black archival, then run through the Vagabond, then colored using ink applicators and finally spritzed with a bit of Color Wash.  Obviously placement is important too as it’s hard to fit most of the man with such a wide word stamp, but don’t you think the possibilities are endless?  I am jonesing for more embossing folders with blank space!

Stamps are Ali Edwards/Technique Tuesday (sentiment) and a border that is one of my go-to stamps.  Inks are distress:  mustard seed, wild honey, peeled paint, faded jeans, and black soot.

Thanks for visiting.  Hope you have time to be creative today!

Your comments are very much appreciated!
