I'm back with another Stencil Hop for Nathalie Kalbach, this time showcasing her Crackle stencil.

I started by adding masking and washi tape to my pages (this is in the new Dyan Reaveley journal… what a great small size it is, measuring 5″X8″).

DSC03838

Next I painted the page with a few diluted acrylic paints, and spread the paint around with a baby wipe.

DSC03841

Never toss extra paint… I always use it up on either blank tags or a new journal page.

DSC03843

I spread embossing ink through the Crackle stencil and heat embossed with clear powder.

DSC03847

Rubbed some dark paint over the embossed areas and into the crevices:

DSC03873

Added more paint through the stencil onto one of the spare tags:

DSC03851

I ended up stamping Dina Wakley's ‘lonely girl' stamp onto a spare tag so I'd have a better impression than the one I stamped over the tapes. Stamped my sentiment, added a bit of filmstrip and bling, and called it a day.

Keep in Touch

Thanks so much for the visit. If you're new to my site, please connect with me in whatever way you like:  sign up for my newsletter or find me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter.

Have a great day!

Marjie

  9. Cat on August 11, 2013 at 5:46 am

Years ago, when I first discovered rubber stamping, I was doing a lot of embossing on the cards I made. Fast forward in time and it’s been years since I made a card or embossed anything. What a fabulous idea for a mixed media art journal page and I love your journal page! And the tag! It helps to have an awesome stencil, doesn’t it?! I love the Crackle stencil and I love the texture embossing adds. Now, if only I could find my darn heat gun!!

    • Marjie Kemper on September 18, 2013 at 10:24 am

Hello, Sanna. Somehow this comment/question ended up in my Spam folder and I’ve just found it now. Sorry for the delay! I didn’t spray embossing powder… I just spooned the powder onto the page, shook off the excess, and used a heat tool to dry it. Hope that helps.
