Simon Says Stamp & Show – One for the Boys

SSSS-BoysFun theme this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show!

Ever since Shelly Hickox posted this project last week I’ve wanted to do something with foil tape and alcohol inks. Shelly’s work is amazing… check out her blog!

Tim got me past my fear of things that shine a few weeks ago when we made this project in class.

I used the honeycomb embossing folder on my foil tape letters with alcohol inks. I love that folder so much it’s scary. I’m not kidding. And with Shelly’s drip and dry technique, the raised areas of the EF seemed to hold the colors in place.

I used the gears dies and the new tiny metal Idea-ology ones, and just had fun with this tag.  My big work space was down to about a 6″ square because I had so much stuff out to play.

I used tiny alphabet stamps to spell out “Let’s hear it for” and a large music stamp background, and added a second tag (black) offset behind the main one before attaching the diecut gears on top.

Today I’m hosting a tutorial on the Movers & Shapers over at the Frilly and Funkie challenge blog.  Would love you to pop by and let us know you visited!

  22. Wow what a fun technique. I love the gears especially. The letters are great but the gears with the colors are so neat. Great colors overall- the yellow really shows off the alcohol-inked pieces. Overall you made a really fun project with lots to think about and try.

  29. This totally ROCKS, Marjie. Love the foil covered letters and had to laugh about Shelly’s “drip and dry technique”. I love Shelly’s work – I want to be just like her when I grow up but I’ve been using that “technique” with foil and alcohol ink for the past two years. In fact, I just finished my piece for F&F next week using it – didn’t even know t was a technique – LOL.

  30. Love your tag! Those metal foil letters look amazing! Stunning!

  31. Great tag, love the colours! Valerie
