Simon Says Stamp & Show – A Song Title

SSSS-SongTitleDozens of songs were on my mind for this week’s challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show… the one that wouldn’t stop playing  in my head was “Dreamer” by Supertramp.  I kept singing “Can you put your hands in your head? Oh, no!” to myself throughout the day.

I was thinking of hands/heads but after looking at all my people stamps I just couldn’t come with anything concrete, so I ended up going with my old standby, a stamped collage.  This is a wood clipboard, painted with gesso, Distress Stains, and Distress Inks by Ranger.

So basically, D is for Dreamer and for Distress. But not just Distress Stains and Distress Inks… also Distress Crackle! That’s the theme over at Linda’s Grungy Monday challenge this week, and I’m playing along there too.  You can see Tim Holtz demo it here.

My clipboard came with a little tag dangling from the metal clamp part.  I substituted a chipboard ‘D’ to demonstrate the technique. I stained it with mustard seed and wild honey Distress Stains and then stamped over it with Tim’s small alpha background.  Next, I coated the whole thing with a generous coat of rock candy distress crackle paint.  After it dried I rubbed spiced marmalade and gathered twigs Distress Inks into the cracks.  Here’s a closer look at the D:

SSS-SongTitle2I used Tim’s Mini Cirque alpha stamps for my big word.   I adhered manila cardstock to grungeboard, stamped and cut, then inked with the stains the same way I did the chipboard letter. Edged it all with black soot Distress Ink and then spritzed with Sunset Orange Color Wash.  It’s adhered with Multi Matte Medium.

Too many stamps to name… mostly Tim’s and Stampers Anonymous, plus several stencils and loads of Monarch Orange and Cofee archival inks by Ranger.

The best part is that even with the raised up letters along the left side, a skinny notepad fits just right in the center… so I’ll be using this a lot.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I appreciate your visit!
