Our Creative Corner Challenge – “All Ruffled Up”

Updated 12/29/2011:

Thank you Gingersnap Creations  for naming me a Ginger Gem for this one!

Our theme this week is ruffles at Our Creative Corner. Our hostess, Anne Marie Hile, has provided a series of inspiration photos which you can see at the OCC site.

Anne Marie suggests using a ruffled ribbon, lace, paper, fabric or ruffled embellishments.  Lots of room to play!  I notice she didn’t say “a ruffled clown’s color” but I think the one shown I’ve stamped here should count.

I used the technique Tim Holtz demonstrated on Day 8 of this year’s 12 Tags of Christmas to paint and ink the tag.  My clown collage stamp is by Stampers Anonymous.  I also used a Rubbernecker script stamp, a Dyan Reaveley alpha stamp and a Catslife Press sentiment stamp.

Inks are all distress inks from Ranger (lots of different blues and greens) as well as black Archival. Also used the snowcap white paint dabber.

I used two strips of colored raffia rolled tight and intertwined to tie my panel onto the tag, and popped it up with foam tape.  One of Tim’s Ideology word charms and a spinner finish it off.

I hope you’ll join us at OCC this week. I’m also entering this into the raffia challenge at Gingersnap Creations.   Have a great day!

Your comments are very much appreciated!

  1. Oops, sorry about the typo…I meant “genius”. My fingers got ahead of me on that one! Lol!

  2. Marjie, you are so amazingly creative! I love how you incorporated this image into the challenge. Genuis, I tell ya! I just love all of the shading and details on your tag. Every project you create is such a work of art and you inspire me every time. Maybe one day I will get up the guts to try some of these wonderful techniques you share. Have a great night! Big hugs! 🙂

  3. Great personalization of an idea – love that the ruffle isn’t “ruffly”

  4. Marjie, I am always a fan of your work. YOu really do know how to showcase TH style and techniques. When I first saw your tag, I thought, wheres the ruffle? Then, I looked at your tag, and the stamped image hit me like a brick wall. You are one clever lady! I love it!
I haven’t had time to play with those great techniques TH is showing on his blog, but I do take a look see, and wish I had a few extra hours a week to go try somethings.
Have a wonderful week, hugs, sharon
