Mr. Bright Idea Makes Another Appearance (Tag Tutorial)

Mr. Bright Idea
Marjie Kemper tag tutorial with Darkroom Door stamps

Playing with Darkroom Door stamps today! I used the new 12-up Shadow Stamp to make the background for Mr. Bright Idea on this jumbo tag.

I used Salty Ocean and Mustard Seed Distress Inks from Ranger to color my stamp. First I pressed the ink pads directly onto the stamp here and there, and then I used my ink blending tools to blend the colors and get rid of any straight lines from the ink pads themselves.

Next I spritzed that inked-up stamp with a light mist of water before stamping it onto my tag.

Here it is after it dried, and after I’d added more Salty Ocean Distress Ink (love that blue!) around the edges.

I stamped Mr. Bright Idea on a piece of leftover packaging so I could test out the position of the stamp in a few places before committing.

I used the Darkroom Door Triangles Background stamp on top and bottom, and a sentiment stamp I’ve had for ages running up the left side.  Everything inked in black was heat embossed with clear powder.

I really like the way the squares from the Shadow Frame show through.  Before I go I’d like to share one more photo:
This is Jean.  She came to a crop I hosted at Michaels last Saturday and decided she wanted to give art journaling a try. This is her very first page, and she’s hooked! Today is Jean’s 73rd birthday and she said she’s thrilled to discover art journaling, a creative outlet where she can use all the supplies she’s amassed over the years in a whole new way. Happy Birthday, Jean!
Thanks so much for the visit today.  I hope you have a great weekend.
