Mixed Media World Guest Designer

Guest Designer at Mixed Media World

It’s a pleasure to be the Guest Designer at Mixed Media World this month. This new monthly challenge blog is managed by a group of talented artists including Ingrid Kristina V.  You may recall Ingrid was featured on Tuesday’s Texture Week 17 back in September with a stunning dragonfly/fern canvas.)

Guest Designer at Mixed Media World - Marjie Kemper - Art journal with Distress Inks

Bright Colors Theme

I was thrilled to hear this month’s theme is “Bright Colors.” I jumped right on the band wagon and created this art journal spread with Distress Inks.  I used a combination of distress colors (Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, and Mustard Seed) and some of my favorite stencils.  The gentleman riding a bicycle is a stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps.

It’s amazing how much depth and interest you can achieve when layering different colors with stencils. Be sure to use a heat tool to set the colors between layers, or allow ample air drying time if a heat tool isn’t available.  Once your bright colors are dry, add your focal images with a permanent black ink such as Jet Black Archival or Stazon.

Thank you Peggy. It’s all about the ink blending tool and using a gentle circular motion as you move the colors from the craft sheet to your paper.
