Mixed Media Canvas ~ Follow Your Heart

Follow Your Heartmixed media canvas (Marjie Kemper)

It’s been a few months since I’ve made a mixed media canvas, and creating this one reminded me how much I like working on canvas.  I need to do it more often! I made this one with DecoArt Media fluid acrylics.

I used stencils in the background as well as for the focal word.  Someone was a little rough with this one in a class, so I keep the broken part of the “E” on the stencil itself and then just tack the little missing piece down with re-positionable adhesive when I need that letter.

Thick black texture paste really stands out in this alphabet stencil.  Spoiler Alert:  it needs some serious drying time, for sure, before you place the stencil down to do the next letter.  That one little word took 3 days!

These small alphabet stickers have been in my stash for well over a decade.  Can you guess how delighted I was to use them?  I ended up using three words so I could use as many as possible. I’m easily amused.

The heart is drawn with a gelato and smeared with my fingers, and I’ve used script stamping and also patterned paper in the background.

I haven’t found a place to hang this yet, but I will.  Do you hang your work at home?

Yummy texture you achieved with crispness on the canvas. Not only easy to do. xox

  4. Love the beautiful blends of colours and stencilling on the background and the striking heart and letters in black pops right off the canvas. Xxx
