All About ATCs Mixed Media Art Class

It's that time of year… time for my online mixed media art workshop called All About Artist Trading Cards & Artist Trading Coins to open its doors!

The class has 55 (yes, you read that right…. FIFTY FIVE) video lessons focused on 10 different Content Categories.   All About ATCs is technique-heavy, and I demonstrate all the techniques on small surfaces known as Artist Trading Cards and Artist Trading Coins (ATCs).  Working on small surfaces takes away the fear of a big blank page or canvas… it's easy to start small, and then use the techniques you learn on larger projects down the road.

All the details are here: All About ATCs Registration page.

What are ATCs?

There are two varieties of ATCs:  Artist Trading Cards and Artist Trading Coins. A rectangular ATC (card) measures 2.5″ x 3.'5″ (6.4 cm by 8.9 cm.) A circular ATC (coin) measures 2.5″ (6.35 cm.) The rectangular ones are the same size as baseball cards.

What will you learn?

We'll work in multiple mixed media layers with wet and dry inks. Learn how to incorporate texture and dimension to your projects, discover stamping and stenciling tips and tricks, fun ways to create faux finishes, tips for wet and dry embossing, and much more.

Can you watch a Sample Lesson?

You bet!  Sign up here for a free trial. Watch one lesson and see if my teaching style is right for you.

Other ATC Samples

You'll find several samples of my own Artist Trading Cards and Artist Trading Coins in this blog post.  Most are stand-alone single projects, but I've included a set of three as well.  That's called a Triptych.  You can combine any of your small works of art into sets or leave them as single pieces.  They're all great additions to other projects such as greeting cards, scrapbooks, art journals, and mixed media canvases.

What does the class cost?

The class costs $99.

How are the videos delivered?

I host the course on a teaching platform called Thinkific. It's very user-friendly.  All 55 video lessons are highly edited (I'm prepared and I fast forward through what you don't need to watch in real time… know what I mean?)  They are yours to download and keep forever.

How long do we have access to the class?

One year plus… you'll have access to the course for 365 days AND you can download the videos at any time during the year to keep and watch as often as you wish.

How long do we have access to a community?

One month…  I know we're all so busy! so our pop-up Facebook Group is active for one month.  I'm active in there for the entire month so you can ask questions, share your work, be inspired by others' work, and meet other people who are interested in expanding their creativity.  After the month is up (November 30) we will archive the group.  Archived Groups are still visible to members (so you can always pop back in for inspirational eye candy and check out your fellow students' projects) but new posting/commenting is disabled.

When does the class start?

The class opens on Thursday, October 29th.  You get access to the entire course that day, and can work through it at your own pace.  Everything is pre-recorded to accommodate our students from around the world.  As a result, you never need to be anywhere at a certain date/time.

When does registration end?

Registration ends November 3rd. After that, the link below will lead to a waiting list page where you can enter your email address to be the first to hear when the class opens in the Spring of 2021.

How do I sign up?

Pop right over to the All About ATCs class registration page.

What is included?

Fifty-five highly edited videos and a printable Student Handbook that is chock full of templates and designs you can use to create your own Artist Trading Cards & Artist Trading Coins.  You have access to the course materials for one year AND you can download them. You have active access to the Facebook Group for one month (posting/commenting) and passive access (viewing) for as long as Facebook exists.

What supplies do I need?

I'm a big proponent of using what you have on hand.  However, some of the techniques I will demonstrate are really product-specific.  Distress Inks, for example, have a unique chemical property that allows for unique results.  Here's a list of what I'll be using in class… you don't need to have it all, but I created the list for those who do like to know ahead of time.
