Layout ~ On the Air

I made this layout to recognize a special time in my teenager’s life, as for over a year he was a regular call-in commentator on a Sunday morning talk show that was hosted by my brother, Dave.  Adam was the Sports Guy.   Every week he’d call in at a designated time and chat about the week in sports. These pics are from a special one-time “live” spot he did in the studio.

I  really wanted to keep the focus on the photos, so I went with navy cardstock and embellished it with repeated patterns and shapes. I used my Sizzix 1/2″ hexagon die, Interlocking Circles border die, and Word Play die.  I ran everything through my Xyron® 5” Create-a-Sticker:

Even with something as intricate as the Interlocking Circles die, the adhesive works perfectly.  Just rub the Xyron® Adhesive Eraser into the openings to remove any excess and every opening will be just as you want it (clean and dry!):

I built up my title block with letters from the Word Play die and ran the whole piece (complete with metal brads) through the Xyron® 5” Create-a-Sticker:

Here’s a peek at those brads:

At the time I’m writing this post, the Xyron® 5” Create-a-Sticker is 40% off at and they’re offering free shipping. E is for Enabler!

That’s it for me today.  Thanks so much for the visit!

Your comments are very much appreciated!

  1. Well that’s a fun thing–what great memories this lo will hold for your son. I FINALLY changed my dt rolls, and can find you again without the pit stop at your old blog! 🙂

  2. Really cool that your son was a commentator on radio show your brother hosted! And this layout is very pretty! Love the hexagons! Hugs, Sandra

  3. Lynn Stevens says:

Thats so cool your son hosting the show. You must be very proud
    Great page Marjie.
The Xyron makes it look so easy!
    hugs Lynn

  4. Great LO starring your junior who looks to be in his element! Valerie

  5. I love the pages you have created for your teenage son. One of these days I must begin to scrapbook. I have so many organized boxes of photos that it’s overwhelming to know where to start. You are very talented in this craft and hope to learn some of those skills in the near future. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  6. That is so cool that he does this! You nailed the layout- perfect- great elements but the focus is firmly on the photos!

  7. What a fantastic layout, Marjie! Not just because a mom created it with photos of her son, but because of the sheer genius of its composition! I have been knee deep in art journaling, ATCs and tags, lately, and now you have inspired me to get back to paper and scissors and glue again! I do have the Xyron® 5” Create-a-Sticker, but that eraser is new to me! Totally brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing both your son and the lesson!!

  8. Too funny Ms. E. I’m headed over there….

  9. Sweet, what a fun thing for your son to have done. Love the layout and energy vibe to it. xox

  10. E is for Extra savings! Brilliant use of dies and what a great design element for scrapbook pages! Love this!

  11. Really cool page Marjie, loving the paper you used and the hexagons are awesome.

  12. Beautiful work, love the two pager and the hex clusters!!!!:):)

Great layout – really like how the pictures can be enlarged and you can see all the details – I feel enabled – may have to run off and order myself a Xyron Create -a-sticker!

  14. Great design Marjie! I love the geometric shapes and great way for keeping memories of your family!

    Regards from Spain

  15. Wow, this is a really cool layout design. More importanly what a cool thing for your teen to have done! I bet he really loves this page too! I know that most teens or kids over 10 won’t really act all that excited about their moms making a fuss over things outloud; but inside they really do feel special! My kido shared this with me after she turned 22! LOL. Thanks for the pics and the story. Great share! Happy Friday!

  16. I love the neutral background with the various white geometric patterns. Adds just the right amount of interest but still keeps the photo as the focal point.

  17. The hexagon shape reminds me of the pattern that makes up a football (that is football U.K./European style) unless the design has changed over the years.
A fabulous way to recognise this special time in your son’s life.

  18. This is FABULOUS!! LOVING the photos, and the hexagons!!!

  19. Yes…and E is for excellent, too. Which is what this layout is. Love the photos and the captured memory. The geometric shapes lead the eye all through the page, which is brilliant. The title is wonderful, too, with the word block letters.

  20. What an amazing page Marjie! Looks like we all tackled a double recently!! My son phones in to a live sports channel where he often gets broadcast too. He would just LOVE Adam’s gig!!

  21. A fabulous layout to capture that wonderful memory. Love it.
    hugs {brenda} x0x
