Layout – Chasing Fireflies

I made this layout with the Childhood Memories collection from Imaginisce.  Xyron is having a blog hop this week and today it’s my turn to show a project, along with my design teammates Courtney Lee and Mitchell Kraft.

I matted the photo on a large piece of green wavy patterned paper, and followed the lines with my scissors to make an interesting photo mat.  After inking the edges of the “play” pennant sticker with Distress Ink, I added it and a few drops of liquid enamel to the photo mat. I gave the whole thing a black base mat:

I cut a strip of the tree house/childhood memories paper and inked the edges with black distress ink before running it through my Xyron® 9” Creative Station.   Here’s a shot of my title block and several border pieces I was considering for this layout.

Intricate border strips like this are no trouble for Xyron.  This is the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Mini Filmstrip die. After applying Xyron adhesive, rub the Xyron Adhesive Eraser cube across the diecut and any stray adhesive will be picked right up.

You can rub the Adhesive Eraser Cube on the backing sheet from the machine or directly onto your project. For something as detailed as this, I did it both ways.  There is not a bit of stickiness in any of those filmstrip holes, yet the filmstrip diecut is entirely “stuck” where it’s meant to be.

All three of the different alpha/number stickers are from a single Imaginisce alpha sheet.  There’s even a fourth set  included on that sheet that I didn’t use.

I added two strips of black cardstock to anchor the page, and used one of the chipboard stickers to finish it off, along with the sweetest little Polaroid picture sticker for my journaling.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Please hop over to see what my teammates,  Courtney Lee and Mitchell Kraft did with the same Imaginisce collection and visit the Xyron blog for loads of great projects all week long!

Awesome page- love the cool texture and the filmstrip die- and love the green panel too. A big huge Ohhhhhh- love the tip about the Adhesive eraser cube over the die cut to remove unwanted stickiness…..I did not know that! Awesome- I will be using my Xyron more now….. (I hope that was not included in the directions I did not read…….).

  14. This is a beautiful layout Marjie, I really love that Xyron machine, it makes it so easy and simple. We have really loved chasing the fireflies around here in Virginia since we have lived here. It’s the first time we have ever experienced them. They have none in Colorado.

  15. Hi Marjie, where would we be without our Xyrons… love my eraser too, it is such a useful tool. Love how you created the wavy edge, it adds so much interest to the layout. That new Tim die is gorgeous (sigh), now adding it to my mile long wish list! Hugs, Anne x
