When the opportunity arises to meet someone you really admire, go for it! I heard that Donna Downey was coming to New Jersey (which oddly sounds far away, with me being in New York, but traveling between these two states can sometimes mean hours and hours of driving) and I signed up for the Saturday 5-hour class. As it turns out, the class was held in a hotel less than an hour away… it can’t get better than that!
I’d taken a class with Donna a zillion years ago (okay, 10-12 years ago) at a Creating Keepsakes event (CKU). I remembered her lively spirit and it was wonderful to see her again, still the same unaffected person. I was loving life before class even started as Donna was just exactly as she seems on her blog and in her videos… totally real, funny, a bit (hmmmmm) bold, and just a regular person up for making some art and having fun.
Another super component to my day ~ I was taking the class with my pals Jessica Sporn and Diane Mascolo. Nothing better than getting inky/painty hands with pals while being so inspired! That’s me and Jessica above with Donna in the middle.
We learned loads of techniques and tips that I’ll be sharing here in the coming days. Kim at Eclectic Paperie is carrying all of Donna’s new stamps and I am definitely going to be having fun playing with them. They are larger than most I’ve ever seen, which means great opportunities for propotion in our art journals.
As it turned out there was an opening for Donna’s Sunday class so I was able to take that as well. All I can say is if you have the chance to take her class, go for it!
Thanks, always, for the visit.
