I made this jumbo tag for the Fall colors challenge at Frilly & Funkie, using Tim Holtz's Sizzix leaf die, acrylic paints, distress and archival inks, and Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE). To start, I cut several leaves from grunge paper. Next, I embossed them using different Sizzix embossing folders.
I used lots of leftover scraps of grunge to cut the leaves, and then embedded them in gesso. After everything dried overnight, I started layering on various fluid acrylic paints until I got the look I wanted.
I stamped some script here and there and added jet black archival ink over a flower stencil. I was really tempted to stop there but still needed to ‘decorate' so I pulled out another Sizzix die and Tim Holtz's Papillon stamp.
Using manila card stock, I cut the Styled Label die, inked and stamped it, then covered with UTEE. I repeated the process with the quote and another leaf. I made several leaves intending to cluster them, but in the end I decided a single dangling leaf had more impact:
Linda's rusty metal wire netting adds lots of texture. I cut a piece diagonally and adhered it with copper brads. The quote is hanging onto the wire with Wonder Tape.
