CC3C-08 Marjie Kemper

Welcome to Compendium of Curiosities 3, Challenge #8!  Our new theme is Faded Layers found on page 58.

Our sponsor this week is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, and there are fabulous prizes available from Tim and Mario as well.  The rules and FAQs are readily available at Linda Ledbetter’s site… please know one thing we do ask is that you not post tutorials on this technique, as we’d like to encourage people to get their own copy of the book.

CC3C-08A Marjie Kemper

I had such fun making this 5X7 canvas!  I used one of Tim's texture fade embossing folders (Rays) and my choice of alchohol inks were Caramel, Cranberry, Wild Plum and Willow.  That text up on top is one of Wendy Vecchi's background stamps.  The little bird is one that was published in The Stamper's Sampler in the Spring. I figured when it came back to me, it needed a new home.

CC3C-08B Marjie Kemper

Here's how my paper looked before I added the embellishments of bird, velvet ribbon, and Idea-ology word band.

CC3C-08C Marjie Kemper

I used my Xyron 150 Create-a-Sticker to apply adhesive to the ribbon.  I like to rub against the edges with a stylus to make sure there's no stickiness… it works like a charm.

CC3C-08D Marjie Kemper

I pierced the ribbon while it was still on its backing paper, and attached the word band with brads straight through the ribbon. Double-stick black foam squares pop by bird up, and I added the word “Fly” with Tim's tiny Label Letters.

CC3C-08E Marjie Kemper

Please be sure to visit the main CC3C site and view all the design team's work.  Every challenge is chock full of inspiration and the submissions we've been receiving have really blown us away.
