Compendium of Curiosities 3 ~ Challenge #4

CC3C-04 Marjie Kemper

Welcome to the new challenge celebrating Tim Holtz’s book, the Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 3.  The new theme is Layering Stencils with Texture Paste (found on page 49 – if you still need a copy, you can get one autographed by Tim right here.)

Our sponsor this week is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, and there are fabulous prizes available from Tim and Mario as well.

CC3C-04 Marjie KemperA

After first laying down some strips of washi tape, I used Distress Stains and water to create a blended background for my page.

CC3C-04 Marjie KemperB

I used shipping tags to soak up the excess and then a paper towel roll to blot the last bit of dampness.

CC3C-04 Marjie KemperC

The tags were perfect for cutting into letters.  They’re a bit pale looking here, but later I added more undiluted Distress Stains to jazz them up. I also cut another set of letters out of black cardstock to mat these so they’d stand out on the page.

I used Tim’s technique on the frame I created for my stamped sentiment (using the Vintage Cabinet Card die), as well as on the “What If” letters.  The rest of the page is filled with Remnant Rubs and lots of stenciling with Distress Inks.

Thanks so much for the visit today.  If you’re up for a Giveaway, stop by my last post for a chance to win.

Hope to see you at CC3C!

Marjie
