Compendium of Curiosities #3 ~ Challenge #12

CC3C #12 - Marjie Kemper

Welcome to the newest challenge (Challenge #12 is Distress Photo Tinting) celebrating Tim Holtz’s book, the Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 3.  The new theme is Distress Photo Tinting (found on page 41 – if you still need a copy, you can get one autographed by Tim right here.)

Our sponsor this week is The Funkie Junkie Boutique, and there are fabulous prizes available from Tim and Mario as well. You can find the Rules and FAQs at Linda’s site… please take a moment to read these so you are definitely in the running for the prizes – we have had some problems lately with people having to be taken out of the mix because they’ve missed one of the few requirements.

CC3C #12A - Marjie Kemper

I started out with a tag and spread modeling paste through Tim’s Measured stencil, let it dry, and then added Distress Ink in blues and oranges. After that set for a moment, I added Vintage Photo Distress Ink through another stencil, as well as around the edges.

CC3C #12B - Marjie Kemper

More stencils, and more ink.

CC3C #12D - Marjie Kemper

I used this B&W photo of my mom when she was a teenager… wasn’t she awesome!?!?  I colored her apron, the bushes behind her, and the sidewalk she’s standing on using the Distress Photo Tinting technique in the book.

CC3C #12C - Marjie Kemper

After attaching the photo to the tag I added embellishments including Remnant Rubs, Measuring Tape, and Idea-ology Alpha Parts.

  43. Just a FABULOUS tag, Marjie!! Your Mom is sooo cute in her blue apron and chefs hat!! You’ve picked a GREAT photo to tint using Tim’s technique!! OH–is the picture an original, or did you reprint it onto glossy photo paper? I’m not sure if I’m going to tint an original picture or goof off with scanning pics onto glossy photo paper–I’d think the smoothness of the gloss would help with tinting. This is a good CC3 challenge!! The ideas are spinning out of control!! 🙂 🙂 XOXO-Shari T.

    • Marjie Kemper says:
