CC3C #11A Marjie Kemper - Mixed Media Canvas wth Effect Powders

I started out by following the technique in the book using three colors of Ranger’s Distress Embossing Powder (Broken China, Mustard Seed, and Vintage Photo) on several pieces of chipboard. (I ended up not using that rectangular clipboard piece after all.)

CC3C #11F - Marjie Kemper Mixed Media Canvas with Effect Powders

After painting my canvas with Golden fluid acrylics, I stamped my female image (Lynne Perrella – PaperArtsy) onto paper as well as onto masking (sticky) paper.  Here you can see I’m peeling off the mask after coloring the area around the image with Distress Inks and an Ink Blending tool.

I was then free to color the image however I liked… I chose Distress Markers and  a water brush, the technique featured in CC3 Challenge #5.

I did some stenciling too, with Distress Inks, before putting the frame over her. I like how you can see some of the stamping and stenciling I did to the frame itself, peeking through the powders.

The frame was too thick for me to pierce the brads through, so I used some wire clippers to break off the brad prongs and then glued just the brad heads to the frame.

CC3C #11E Marjie Kemper - Mixed Media Canvas wth Effect Powders

My favorite part was using the three colors of Distress Embossing Powder on these grungeboard letters.  I love how they turned out!  I hemmed and hawed on how to spell out ‘follow your’ and ended up wanting to leave the brown canvas showing through the chipboard file frame.  It feels odd not to have stenciled on the canvas itself, but it seemed like it was time to stop at this point.

Besides the wonderful IE gift certificate, there are additional prizes donated by Tim and Mario. Honestly the prize packages have been crazy generous.  You’ve got to be in it, to win it, so go ahead and join us.

Thanks so much for the visit!
