I chose one of Dina Wakley’s female stamps from her Face in the Crowd set and a jumbo tag.  After looking through my dies, I chose to diecut a Sizzix polaroid picture frame as an accent.

Once I had stamped her on the tag, I put a piece of clear packaging on top of the stamped image to protect it.  Finally, I laid my picture frame dpwn and stamped again, so I could line up her neck.

Using stamps with masks (Marjie Kemper)

I also stamped the image on a post-it, so I could have a mask to protect the stamped parts while I was adding color.

I really like the 3D aspect of the frame popping off the tag. Pop dots allowed me to do that. I used the same packaging/aligning trick to get the stamping/stenciling to line up on my polaroid frame with the stamping/stenciling beneath.

The metal is Idea-ology except for that  black gear on top (from stash, no clue who made it).  The words ‘why not now’ are from one of Dina’s stencils, and I used Ranger’s black embossing paste for the words.

  20. This is so bright and cheery! I am new to tag and card making and I am loving it! I just wish I could figure out how you all keep your tags so flat and crisp. Mine seem to curl when I use heat on them. Is there a trick?

    • Marjie Kemper says:

Jenn, you’re not alone. Sometimes I need to leave a weight or two on them overnight, but they usually flatten out after that.

  21. Love your bright colors and the wing is the perfect embellishment!

  22. This tag is fantastic! I love the idea of using the packing tape to align the images, but may need a mental process is wondering how you’re not ripping everything up when you remove it…

    • Marjie Kemper says:

Kim – it’s just clear packaging – not packing tape. You are right, the tape would ruin it!

  23. Love your brilliant color palette, as usual! It always reminds me of a bright sunny day! Thank you for sharing your tip for getting the stamp impression lined up on the frame! Most inspiring piece!
