CCC #32: It's All Perspective

This week's CCC challenge at Studio L3 is Inking & Stamping Masks.  It comes from pg. 59 of Tim's Compendium of Curiousities.  I used Tim's umbrella man and sentiment stamps, along with a lot of different background stamps (text, grid, honeycomb and cracked glass).  Also a small heart and a swirly one from Inkadinkadoo that I really like.  I added a few brads and a 7Gypsies rub-on, then inked a cloth button to fasten the ribbon.  Inks were peeled paint, crushed olive, forest moss, weathered wood, faded jeans, and black soot.  I used Tim's distressor to rough up the edges of the…

Heart on Her Sleeve

I had so much fun making this tag for the Simon Says Stamp challenge this week.  I used wild honey a stencil to layer some color at the top and bottom using wild honey and fired brick, then added a couple of strips of Heidi Swapp paper tape.  The art doll is from Stampers Anonymous (of course!) and I stamped her on Tim Holtz's Lost & Found Paper stack.  I then cut her skirt into strips and edged each strip with black soot, then embossed each one with clear powder and reassembled the skirt.  Same with her torso, sleeves, legs and head. I then glued all her parts…

CCC #31 – Vagabond, Anyone?

This is my entry for this week's Compendium of Curiousities Challenge that Linda Ledbetter is running over at StudioL3.  I wish I had started back when she started the Challenge!  There are still a few weeks left so don't hesitate if you want to play along. It's really fun and you will see some amazing art from all the folks who enter.  This week's challenge comes from page 41 of Tim Holtz's wonderful book, Compendium of Curiousities. The technique is Rusted Enamel and it's amazing what the texture is like once applied.  I heard people referring to it as leathery and I started thinking about leather…

CCC #30 – Altered Metal with Paint

Here's my entry for this week's Compendium of Curiousities Challenge.   You can find the details here: Studio L3: Linda's Blog and on page 48 of Tim's book. The tag was from my stash and came preprinted in green. I painted an old MM frame with an Adirondack paint dabber (lettuce) and inked two tiny tags with shabby shutters, peeled paint, and black soot distress inks.  I cut three of tim's smallest flowers from the license plate paper in the Lost & Found Paper stack and used three of the Ideology pins as stems (filling the centers with glossy accents).  That is a really…

Beginning to Blog…

This is my very first post on my very first blog. I've been getting deeper and deeper into the paper arts community and it seems like a blog is a necessary thing for sharing art and getting to know others who share my (ahem) obsessions. Here goes! This weekend I worked on a challenge from Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiousities. It's found on page 50. Here's my take on it: I used Tim's Alterations ornamental die, notebook texture fade, butterscotch paint, walnut stain and broken china distress inks, black enamel accents on prima flowers, and a strip of brown cardstock…
