Tag Time ~ Beeswax

Beeswax TagBeeswax tag with Ranger Melting Pot (Marjie Kemper)

Having fun with my Ranger Melting Pot… I ended up with this jumbo tag, which has a mini tag made from Beeswax on top.  You can also use a dedicated crockpot.  I picked up a small one at a tag sale years ago that’s perfect for this. I just let the wax solidify in the tray and then melt it again the next time I need it.

Can you believe I have a tag cookie cutter in my stash?  How cool is that?  I don’t remember where I got it but I stumbled across it recently and it’s been seeing some serious playtime.

Love how you can see through the Beeswax. I have a lot of cool projects with wax saved on my Pinterest Board dedicated to Encaustics & Melt Art.

I stamped Tim’s journey stamp on tissue paper and applied different layers of the wax with a brush, leaving some of the white tissue visible and some melted into the printed tissue wrap beneath.

  10. Your work is gorgeous. I have used wax, but not in this way and I have a whole tub of cookie cutters (I used to collect them when I cooked). How did you get the wax out? Do you remove while still hot? I really want to try this.

Thanks, Vicki. I let it sit long enough to be ‘set’ but still warm before lifting off the cookie cutter and cutting around the wax tag.
