This week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show is color. Playing in my art journal, I built up my background with Distress Paints, fluid Acrylic paints, inks and stencils. I knew I didn't want to cover it up so I chose the tallest arch from Darkroom Door's Gothic Arches stamp set to use as accents. I stamped it three times on white card, cut each center out, and colored each arch with Distress Markers (love how they coordinate with the paints.)
It was a lucky discovery to realize that Tim Holtz's new Remnant Rubs are a perfect fit for the Darkroom Door arch:
I love the details on the Rubs and how smoothly they transfer… in this case even over uneven textured surfaces as shown in the arch above the word “Journey.” You can see in the photo above that the modeling paste I ran vertically through a Prima stencil has taken the Rubs beautifully. I like the combination layering of the paints, stamps, stencils and Rubs:
And here are a few of the number Rubs:
Thanks so much for the visit. I leave tomorrow for Ranger U and simply cannot wait! I probably won't blog over the course of the weekend (we'll have instruction from 9am-6pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) but I will surely post on Facebook, so do ‘friend' me there if you're up for some pics (link in my sidebar).
I've also updated my website with my teaching schedule for May, June and July. Hope to see you at a class soon!
