Art Is You Recap (2016)
This year's Fall Art Is You Mixed Media Art Retreat has come and gone! I've blogged about this event many times over the years. It's truly an extraordinary event filled with laughter, creativity and friendship. I've never been to a more welcoming group. Click here if you'd like to read about prior events.
This was my sixth year attending and my third year teaching. I taught a full day workshop called Dress Up Your Desktop. We created master boards and then cut them up into smaller pieces to adorn binders, clipboards, notepad covers, etc.
Mixed Media Art Retreat Attendees
These ladies were a joy! Not everyone wants their name mentioned, but they know who they are, and I thank them for spending the day with me.

Here's a peek at the samples:
It's fun to go to a meeting or conference toting unique items like these. No more boring office supplies! I brought tons of supplies for everyone to use during the class. It always tickles me to see which stamps, stencils, and dies everyone chooses.
What's fascinating is not just their choices of tools, but also color decisions… and how creative each one is in her own right.
Basically, there was color everywhere!
Student Work – Altered Clipboards, Beautiful Binders, Fanciful File Folders, and more
Here are some of the pieces Arlene made:
And some of Carole's:
Ellen was with us while worried about family back home. Hurricane Matthew was doing a lot of destruction during the Retreat. I'm so glad she was able to get there safely and create these beauties:
This next artist doesn't want to be named, but said I could share her work:
Patricia wowed us with her altered clipboards and binder covers:
Be sure to get on the Art Is You mixed media art retreat mailing list to find out where they're going in 2017 and beyond. The retreat is held in multiple locations in the USA and Australia.
Mixed Media Art Membership Group
Have you heard about the Mixed Media Art Membership Group? It's a monthly membership that I host that includes facilitated learning through a Project of the Month (with closed-captioned video instruction), Themed Challenge of the Month, a live Zoom Create-Along Session where we all work on our art together, and lots of resources such as the Project Vault, Technique Vault and Resource Library. Best of all is the supportive and inspiring community we enjoy in our private Facebook Group and the gated private forum on the site where I host the videos and resources.
The group is only open for new members a few times a year, so please add your name to the waiting list to be the first to know when the doors open again. Click here to add your name to the waiting list.
