Art Journaling ~ More from Dina’s Classes

Marjie Kemper art journal FL 0215

Last month I shared a post about an art retreat I attended in Florida with Dina Wakley and Dyan Reaveley. Here are 3 more pages from the Dina classes, with close-ups below:

I so enjoy Dina’s teaching style and I loved taking the classes but I know these pages aren’t ‘me’ so I’ve been thinking about what to do with them.  I’ve decided I’ll insert the first two pages into my journal as reminders of the class, but…

I’ve cut a variety of circles from this last page, and will be making another page with the pieces. Who knows what that will look like?  I’m looking forward to finding out!

  1. oh ah wow ! I love her art..the art here is fabulous fabulous journal pages Marjie

  2. I love taking classes and learning new things, having fun with friends and sometimes just getting out of the house. I know a few times I have ended up with pieces I didn’t feel I had created…they just weren’t me, but didn’t want to discard them. Thanks for ideas on how to use them.

  3. Am so fascinated to read this… the negotiation between having really enjoyed a class but knowing that what comes out is not “you”. Very much looking forward to seeing what becomes of those bubbles!

  4. The pages look great, even if they are not totally you…. now I look forward to what you will do with the elements from the last one. Lucky you to do that class!

  5. No, not really your style but I bet you will do something amazing with them – and I bet you picked up some great tips in the class… Anne x

  6. These pages are gorgeous Marjie! Looking forward to seeing what happens with those circles.

  7. Oh, Fun Marjie!! These pages are wonderful–that must have been an incredible class!! I can’t wait to see what you create with those circles, too 🙂 🙂 Talk about suspense! 🙂 🙂 XOXO-Shari

  8. I agree that oftentimes the artwork we create in classes is not really “our” style, but, mostly, that of the instructors. But, its the process, the learning of new techniques, and the camaraderie of the live classes that is so intense and makes them well worth the time, effort and money involved. I love the idea of putting two of your pieces in a journal for remembrance–and a future opportunity to make them a bit more “you,” but treating the third piece as a masterboard in pure genius. Love this idea, Marjie!

  9. Quite loosey goosey for you, love the freedom. xox

  10. These are gorgeous! I am LOVING the colors!!!!!
