Art Journaling ~ Listen to Your Inner Voice

Hello and thanks for visiting today. If you’re here looking for the latest Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, I’ve decided to sit this one out as the theme is glitter, and I am just not a Glitter person. Be sure to visit Linda and the crew for inspiration and don’t miss your chance to win great prizes from Tim and Mario and our generous sponsor, Inspiration Emporium.

Kemper Art Journal with Dylusions - Listen to Your Inner Voice

As for me this week, it was time to play in my art journal. I had fun making this page in my large (9 X12) Dylusions art journal. The base is a combination of DecoArt fluid acrylics (from their Media line) over which I’ve added some color with Ranger’s Distress and Archival inks.

The gals are images from Dyan Reaveley that I’ve stamped onto manila card, cut out, and adhered to the page. People never look good ‘floating’ so I tore paper strips of old book text and added them to the pages to give the gals some grounding. I added lots of stenciling and a bit of stamping finish me off.  The recurring lines/circles in the background come from a new StencilGirl stencil designed by Maria McGuire.

    bonne journée

  2. I feel ya on the glitter bit. I definitely am not a glittery gurl! But, I did give it a go and have the big container of Rock Candy Distress Glitter & my first thought was “WHO is gonna ever use THIS much?!?!”…lol! I managed to not only do my background, but also made the ‘seals’ in heart-shaped grungepaper with more glitter. That says ALOT for ME concerning glitter at all! I think I find it challenging to use alot of it – sort of opposite of Tim’s heavy-handed spoonfuls- I go more the way of being heavy-handed with my BRUSH & knock too much back off. So making it all show up is harder for me to get on my photots. Some of us just weren’t born to…sparkle?? hehehe!! 😉

  3. I miss your submittal because, as another glitter-phobe, I was hoping to see how you hndle the stuff! Meanwhile, i must go police my work space as glitter is getting into everything! And I was so careful! But it appears that glitter hates me…

  4. Hi Marjie!! I’ll miss you at CC3 for this challenge, but look at what you shared!! I’m really paying attention to art journal pages now, and these two from your journal are amazing!! Although, I have to admit, these Dylusions images kinda freak me out a little–especially the one on the left side…I’m kinda scared of her 😉 LOL :)!! (she reminds me of the coneheads–is she from France?) 🙂 LOL!! Sorry–I digress!! Love the layers of colors in your background and all of the stenciling you did!! Fabulous!! XOXO-Shari

  5. They are such dynamic and feisty women, great fun.
I only have a few of the DecoArt fluid acrylics but have to say that I am impressed with them.
    A fabulous spread.
Marjie, sorry I have been absent but such is life. Glad to be able to stop by today.

  6. Love your use of Dyan’s women – and the layers of colour in the background are yummy. Glad you listened to your inner voice on the glitter!!
