Art Journaling ~ Imagine the Possibilities

Kemperartjournal5172013

Here’s an art journal page using the new Triangles Background stamp from Darkroom Door along with Gel Medium, Paint, and Archival Inks by Ranger.  I also used some favorite stencils and a few older stamps from Stampers Anonymous.  This background stamp from Darkroom Door is quite large (6″ wide) and would make a bold background stamped repeatedly in its entirety:

You can also roll the Triangles Background and use small sections of it, getting just a few triangles here and there (as I did here, rolling it without a mount):

I used Gel Medium through a large triangle stencil as a base and then stamped the smaller triangles on top of it. I used Ranger’s Distress Markers to color in some of the triangles and all of the letters.  The idea for the old fashioned stenciled letters came from Carolyn Dube’s free online workshop, Use Your Words. While you’re there check out her blog… tons of inspiration waiting for you!

This page went on the Darkroom Door blog last week with several other ideas for using the same stamp.  I’m linking to Art Journal Every Day and Simon Says Stamp and Show (Favorite Ink challenge ~ Jet Black Archival by Ranger is my go-to ink pad.)

Thanks so much for the visit!

Marjie

This is absolutely lovely. I’m new to this whole art journaling thing, and was wondering about keeping the inks from running. Did you then spray the blue on top of everything? Thanks!

  11. I bought some red and some black Ranger Archival ink a few weeks ago online – they just arrived and they are so nice. The stamped imageS look very criSp. I love that triangle stamp too. Would be very awesome for backgrounds but I don’t have an acrylic block big enough – it’s huge!

  12. WOW Marjie! I love your art journal page! Those triangles, both stamped and stenciled are amazing! They really pop. I love all of the other stamps you’ve randomly used in your background as well. The Distress Markers really popped some of those triangles as well. Thanks so much for sharing your art and your techniques with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
