Art Journal ~ Love
This page wrote it's own title: Art Journal Love. Once I was finished painting and stenciling I realized the the tissue paper had done most of the work for me!
Art Journal Love
Have you used tissue paper as a base for your art journal pages? It's a really quick way to start a page, and there are loads of patterns available. I used some very cool printed tissue paper from my very old stash on this one.
Use Your Stash
This tissue paper is from 7 Gypsies and it's been in my stash for a really long time. At least the package was open and I've used some of it before… I can't stand finding brand new unopened product. Use it or lose it, right? I am pretty sure this version was part of a Valentines sales release because of the text on it.
I adhered it to my page with matte medium and let it dry overnight. Using a brayer helps to get the tissue paper to lay flat. It doesn't bother me to have wrinkles, but I don't like to have bubbles under the tissue. Once dry, it was easy to tear off the excess so it fit my page properly.
I didn't take pictures along the way because it came together so quickly. Green Gold and Teal fluid acrylic paints were my choice for this one. I thinned the Green Gold with an Acrylic Glaze and used black gesso for the stenciled arrows.
The circles are from a very old (but still lovely) red Sizzix die called Frames: Circle Combo. It's a favorite of mine because it's such a classic. I think it was one of the first ones I bought when I started scrapbooking back in 1999.
Mixed Media Art Membership Group
Have you heard about the Mixed Media Art Membership Group? It's a monthly membership that I host that includes facilitated learning through a Project of the Month (with closed-captioned video instruction), Themed Challenge of the Month, a live Zoom Create-Along Session where we all work on our art together, and lots of resources such as the Project Vault, Technique Vault and Resource Library. Best of all is the supportive and inspiring community we enjoy in our private Facebook Group and the gated private forum on the site where I host the videos and resources.
The group is only open for new members a few times a year, so please add your name to the waiting list to be the first to know when the doors open again. Click here to add your name to the waiting list.

Beautiful colors and beautiful journal page!
Love those zesty, zingy colours and they look perfect with the striking text background. Hope you are having a great weekend. xxx
Thanks so much, Brenda! Hope the same for you.
I love using tissue paper and invisible edges that it produces. Great job.
Thanks, Gigi. I usually use small pieces, so this was a nice change and gave me an instant background.
That is so fun and yes using up the stash to make something is a much better idea. xox
Cheers to the stash! And thanks, Corrine.
What a wonderfully creative way by which to begin! I think this would be so great especially if having a creative block. Thanks, Marjie?
Thanks, Elisa. It sure is a good jump-start when looking at a blank page!
I do love that texty tissue, and the vivid colours are fabulous as always. Love those circular die-cuts too.

Thanks, Alison! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for the great ideas I have to confess that I have a lot of stuff in my stash that I have not used so I like the way you introduce ways to use up stash items. sometimes I swear that it the stash grows on its own in the cupboard when I am not looking at least that is what I tell myself.
It does that here, too, Laura! Besides, I think we get bonus points when we use something that we’ve had a really long time.
TROP BEAU +++++++++++++++
Merci, Bernath!
Yay for use it or lies it! It’s something I can relate to & have been trying hard to stick to but with a trip to the USA coming up very soon I may have problems not to be tempted lol
Bringing an extra suitcase, Sally? :-) Temptations await!
I am bringing an extra case which will be full of candies/chips from uk for my stepdaughter on the way over & full of goodies for me on the way home lol!
What a great plan, Sally!
