Art Journal ~ Follow Your Dreams

New Stamp Release

I am so thrilled for my friend Seth Apter who has just released a whole new line of beautiful background stamps through Impression Obsession.  Seth is extremely talented, and also one of the nicest people and most generous teachers I’ve ever met.  Seth travels a lot, so chances are you may have a chance to take a class with him.  Don’t hesitate! The following artists are joining along with me using some of Seth’s new stamps:

Mary Beth Shaw

Pam Carriker

Linda Cain

Brian Kasstle

Kim Henkel

I made an art journal page in my a big book that measures 9″ X 12.”

Faded Fragments

I chose these two stamps from the Faded Fragments set:

Seth Apter New Release - Faded Fragment stamps

They’re called Screen Print and Broken Tile.  I used both in the background of my page, and I highlighted my large letters with the Screen Print stamp.  First I painted the page with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics and did a lot of stamping and stenciling.

Next, I painted my chipboard letters and stamped Seth’s Screen Print image on them in black soot ink. While the ink was wet, I heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. After that, I cut a second set of letters out of black card stock to shadow the embossed ones. Finally, I added some strips below the word ‘dreams’ to ground it.

Do you see the shine over the stamped face? I stamped it on a piece of clear acrylic packaging, which gives the effect of her looking out a window when you turn the page just so. I also fashioned a little hanging sign from a Sizzix die and some strips of black paper.

I’m off to check out what the other artists made with Seth’s new stamps. Be sure to visit them (links up top) and also visit Seth’s blog to give him a high five on his exciting new endeavor.
