Art Journal ~ Enjoy the Day
This is a nod to the Fourth of July with nontraditional colors, using stars from Wendy Vecchi's Celestial Art stamp set as well as some Sizzix diecut stars.
The larger stars look like patterned paper but they're just washi tape that I laid across cardstock and diecut. Loads of favorite stamps and stencils in the background, and the rich colors come from Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Ink Sprays and Ranger's Archival Inks.
Mixed Media Art Membership Group
Have you heard about the Mixed Media Art Membership Group? It's a monthly membership that I host that includes facilitated learning through a Project of the Month (with closed-captioned video instruction), Themed Challenge of the Month, a live Zoom Create-Along Session where we all work on our art together, and lots of resources such as the Project Vault, Technique Vault and Resource Library. Best of all is the supportive and inspiring community we enjoy in our private Facebook Group and the gated private forum on the site where I host the videos and resources.
The group is only open for new members a few times a year, so please add your name to the waiting list to be the first to know when the doors open again. Click here to add your name to the waiting list.

Hey there sweetie, thank you so much for sharing your fabulous art journalling pages with the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog, loving your colours and the background made by your stencils are just fabulous wowwzersss Hugs Terry xxx
First congratulations on being on the SG DT. Your book pages tutorial was wonderful and it has inspired me to use stamping on my Gelli Plate papers and start working in a book. You made it look so easy. Previously, I had just been making single papers and working with them. SG has some great stencils.
Wow such wonderful pages! Love all the layers and dimensions! Great stencil work! Hugs, Sandra
Oh, how I love this! It reminds me of the summer sky all lit up with fireworks. It’s so festive with all those glorious dancing stars. Just beautiful, Marjie!
Beautiful depth to the background–what a gorgeous effect, Marjie.
:)
Wow, wow and wow, this is drop-dead fabulous, Marjie! Beautiful layering of patterns and the colors are just so beautiful. Great design work with the stars. Thanks so much for playing with us again this week at Frilly and Funkie. Hope you enjoyed the 4th and are having a wonderful family weekend!

Linda

Hi Marjie
Bit late but Happy 4th July! Hope your day was wonderful, filled with love, and that you have a super duper family weekend.
Great pages, as ever. I am following your work by email – just don’t get as much time online right now. Hope to get myself more organised soon! Happy weekend :-D Cath x
Hello Marjie! May I call you the queen of colours? Stunning page!
Have a nice weekend :-)
Beautiful Marjie, lovely colours and layers and fabulous starry pages. Happy 4th July.
hugs {brenda} x0x
Fabulous array of stars and I like your use of non-traditional colours, a route I took myself on the 4th of July card I shared today (I know, I am 100% Scottish but couldn’t resist)
Enjoy the long weekend spent with your family.
Wishes
Lynne
Fantastic pages, these are “my” colors.
I am a big fan, Marjie, but in addition to loving your journal spread, I love the message! Russ and I are spending the day at our campground–comfortably tucked inside our air-conditioned camper! Now, I must point out that we have a few of the same stamps, but I have none of Wendy’s. I imagine I will be fixing that when I attend her class in August! Enjoy your weekend–will check on you Monday for the fun stuff!
i so love the richness of your page!! and the layers are beyond! i so need to practise the art of clean lines like you have in your art!
Gorgeous, gorgeous colours Marjie and just love those stars in the washi tape. Hope you have a lovely time with your family celebrating 4th July! Hugs, Anne x
Hey Marjie! Your art journal pages are gorgeous – your colors are so pretty and then your design work is like a dance – so balanced. My eyes dance all around but in a smooth way. Most of all I like your design work with this!!!

Gorgeous pages. I love the depth of color and pattern you achieved!
This is gorgeous!! LOVING the colors and the stars!!!
I do love reds, oranges and yellows! Fabulous pages, M! One day I will figure this art journal thing out, but it is so much easier to just enjoy yours! Happy 4th of July!
Wonderful spread with those stars shining. Enjoy your weekend. xox
Beautiful lay-out. I love that you used “nontraditional colors”. It really captures the feeling of the 4th in a more vintage, traditional feeling way (ironically). (I’m not a huge fan of red, white, and blue.) Neat use of washi tape on the dye-cut, stars, too.
I do love this. Really must put my mind to this challenge over the weekend. Need to use my dylusions more – may borrow your idea! TTFN Mooffie
Great message on a great page!
Marjie, I just love all the colours you’ve used together and how they’ve all been integrated perfectly!
Love it!!
