Art Journal ~ Believe in Magic?

Kemper art journal 04112014.

I noticed my friends at Our Creative Corner have a music/lyrics challenge going on, and this page came together as my entry.  The song I was thinking of is an oldie by The Lovin’ Spoonful.  Here are the lyrics:

Such a fun song!  It always makes me smile.

The gal is a stamp from Viva Las Vegas. I stamped with her jet black archival ink, and then stamped her again onto a post-it, which I cut out slightly larger than the actual image.

I covered the image stamped on the page with the post-it and stamped the ledger border on top, which provided a floor of sorts to ground her. Stamping over the post-it meant a bit of white space would remain around her feet, which I wanted.  But then…. I had a coloring ERROR of major sorts, so I stamped her  again onto a tag and repeated the process (mask/border) and covered the image on the page with the actual tag.

After doing a better coloring job on the gal (using Distress Markers), I added a bit of textured embossing around the edges of the tag using Tim’s Papillon texture fade and a diffuser, keeping the center of the tag plain.

The page has a wash of blue paint and I added some stenciling in the background with blue Distress Inks.  The words are from a new StencilGirl stencil designed by Carolyn Dube, and I stenciled them in with black paint and a cosmetic sponge.

Thanks so much for the visit.  Have a great weekend!
