A Note to Time

Kemper tag 04082014

Hello, and thanks for stopping by.  Please click on any photo to enlarge.

This tag is for a combination of challenges:  Frilly and Funkie (Time), The Artistic Stamper (Embossing & Texture), Inspiration Journal (Favorite Things ~ mine are the three Tim Holtz Sizzix dies used on this project) and Lisa Somerville’s Bloggers’ Challenge (Stencils).

I started out adhering some paper scraps to a tag and painting it with Fresco Finish paint (Pumpkin Soup), before adhering a few cuts of Tim Holtz’s new Chevron Frameworks (Sizzix) die.

I stenciled a large clock on the lower left portion of the tag before embossing the whole thing in a Cuttlebug ‘clocks’ embossing folder. The stenciled clock gets lost later as I build up the color, but I like that it left a few spots noticeably lighter than others. Speaking of stencils, did you see my post last week about Using Xyron with Stencils?

After doing the dry embossing,  I ran a Coffee Archival ink pad over the raised areas of the clocks and gears.  Next I stamped the “Dear Time” sentiment (Technique Tuesday) and heat embossed it, then attached it to the tag with one side of Tim’s Mini Filmstrip border die (Sizzix) and a few brads.

The tag looked a bit too busy to me so I took an XL tag and ran it through one of Tim’s embossing folders, and inked it up with Fresco Finish paints (Pumpkin Soup and Inky Pool) to make a mat of sorts for the smaller tag. Lots of  Coffee Archival Ink around the edges.

The mat needed something so I pulled out Tim’s Iron Gate on-the-edge die and added a bit of interest.
